Meet Kayla Smyth

Kayla Headshot Caucasian, Shoulder length dark brown hair, smiling, black blazer with red top

Hi, I’m glad you are here! As a trauma informed therapist my goal is to help you move towards a place of self compassion and empowerment.

I am passionate about what I do and I believe having a collaborative therapeutic relationship can bring about the best outcome for my clients. I work with tweens, teens and adults and draw from various techniques which allows me to provide individualized therapy for my clients. I utilize a blend of Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

I am well versed in emotional regulation techniques and work with my clients to integrate healthy coping skills. My experience ranges from tutoring and counseling middle and high school students, to working in harm reduction as well as working with clients living with chronic mental illness in residential care homes. I enjoy working with clients of all ages and backgrounds and also have specialized experience in grief and chronic pain.

I graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. I then went onto The Wright Insititute in Berkley, Ca. where I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology.

I grew up in Northern California and recently relocated to the San Clemente area. I am a huge animal lover and enjoy all the outdoor activities that San Clemente has to offer.

I am currently supervised by Beth Holder, LMFT while working toward full licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

I accept Cigna and United Health Care as an in-network provider and my rate is $150 for a 50 minute session. I work Monday through Friday and currently have some morning and afternoon availability.
